What camera and lenses do you use?I shoot with a Canon 5D Mark III. Before January 2015 I shot with a 60D, and prior to August 2012, I had a Canon Rebel XTi. I use my 50mm 1.2L lens the most, but I also own a Canon 100mm 2.8L that I absolutely love. I rent lenses to supplement these two when needed. I am currently drooling over the Canon 35mm 1.4L USM!
What program do you use for editing?I use Adobe Lightroom. L-O-V-E it. I also have Photoshop Elements but I use Lightroom almost exclusively. The sync function is a life saver!
How did you learn photography?
I get this question often. There's no 3-step answer because I am self-taught, so I didn't go to any classes or really read any books. I read info online, and took lots of pictures; and I read lots of photographer's blogs that I admire - learning by immersion, so to speak. When it comes to technical stuff, there are a few articles that I found particularly helpful. Visit my Beginner's Photography Basics Pinterest board for links to those articles - and then get out there, set your camera to manual and start playing!!
What should I wear for a portrait session? Some general tips for portrait clothing choices are to choose tops that are not low-cut and bottoms that come to your knee or lower. I think that this helps to emphasize your face in a portrait, which is how it should be! Cleavage or short skirts/shorts just distract from where your focus ought to be - on your face.
As far as style goes, it's a good idea to have one outfit that is classy and timeless, maybe in neutral colors. That way you know that photo will not be out of date in two years! You can always have a second outfit that is more colorful and really let your style come through.
